Acute Oncology
- DGRI has a new Acute Oncology Service Monday – Friday 08:30-1630.
- If you have a patient in hospital that falls into any of these categories please contact Acute Oncology ANP Rebecca Dunn on 33112.
- Admitted to hospital with a complication of cancer treatment
- Admitted to hospital due to a consequence of cancer
- A new diagnosis of cancer within the acute setting
- Any other oncology issues can also be discussed.
- This is a service for oncology input and advice only; acute oncology will not take over care.
- Currently this service consists of one ANP. This means service is limited and in times of annual leave or absence the patient’s CNS should be contacted as previous.

Acute Oncology Initial Management Guidelines
The UK Oncology Nursing Society have recently published guidelines for the initial management of adult patients who have a cancer diagnosis, and present as an emergency or unplanned admission with a complication of their disease or cancer treatment.
