Vaccination Referrals from ED
The vaccination team accepts referrals from the Emergency Department via email.
Attach a copy of the ED discharge letter in your email. We don’t have to complete the referral form, but you can if you prefer (attached below).
Hepatitis B – This is included in PGDs so does not need to be prescribed, but the required schedule should be included in the ED discharge letter. The accelerated schedule is used most commonly for post-exposure prophylaxis.
Tetanus – This is included in PGDs so does not need to be prescribed.
Rabies – This is not included in PGDs and must be prescribed on the ED discharge letter. Follow the guidance in links and the BNF and then include the required regime in your discharge letter.
